Opportunity knocks for volunteers
George Althoff
Executive Director
We’re looking for a few good volunteers to assist with two of our biggest events of the year – the annual Big Top Parade on Saturday, June 14, and the Chamber Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 24. All right, maybe more than a few. How about a few dozen?
This year’s parade is shaping up to be a star-spangled celebration, with dozens of bands, clowns, antique bike riders, floats, and beautiful circus wagons, including the return of the venerable Bell Wagon. Ten days later, more than 150 golfers for will “Aim for the Flag” in our golf outing at Baraboo Country Club. Baraboo State Bank is the presenting sponsor of the golf outing, while Tumbled Rock Brewery & Kitchen is the beverage sponsor and Sysco Foods is the buffet sponsor.
By giving a couple hours of your time, you can be part of either event – or both! Here is what we need:

Big Top Parade
- Corner guards. These volunteers are stationed at every intersection along the parade route to ensure that spectators stay clear of parade units. Shifts are from 10:30 until about noon, or whenever the last unit has passed your corner.
- Staging area. These volunteers are stationed along the parade lineup route and assist units in finding their assigned spots in the parade. The shift is from 10 a.m. until the parade steps off at 11. That means there’ll still be time to find a spot to watch the parade!
- Shuttle parking lot. Volunteers are needed to staff the parking lot at Baraboo High School from 9 a.m. until about 11 a.m. That’s where buses will be picking up spectators to shuttle them to the parade route.
- Cleanup. These volunteers will make sure the parade route is left litter-free once the parade is over. This shift generally lasts from noon until no later than 1:30 p.m.
Please sign up online!

Chamber Golf Classic
Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties beginning at 9 a.m. until the dinner ends about 7 p.m.
If you are interested in volunteering for the golf outing, find the online signup form here.

Planning is underway for Discover Wisconsin filming
We are very excited about our partnership with Discover Mediaworks – producers of the Discover Wisconsin television show – which was announced in the March Chamber Review. Filming for the Discover Real Baraboo segment will begin later this year, with the show tentatively scheduled to air sometime in the spring of 2026 in 13 television markets across six states in the Upper Midwest. Discover Wisconsin reaches millions of viewers through a combination of network, cable, and satellite stations, and through its digital presence across various platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and more.
Our producer and host for the segment is Lindsey Hayes, who grew up in Sauk County and is very excited with the opportunity to focus her creative talents on an area she knows well. Filming will begin in the next month or so. Keep watch on the chamber’s social media channels and the monthly newsletter for updates.
