Volunteers needed for parade, golf outing
George Althoff
Executive Director
Two of our biggest events of the year are on the horizon, and neither would be possible without the participation of volunteers.
The annual Big Top Parade on Saturday, June 13, and the Chamber Golf Classic on Tuesday, June 30, both require many volunteers for a variety of duties. Here is what we need:
Big Top Parade
- Corner guards – These volunteers are stationed at every intersection along the parade route to ensure that spectators stay clear of parade units. Shifts are from 10 a.m. until about noon, or whenever the last unit has passed your corner.
- Staging area – These volunteers are stationed along the parade lineup route and assist units in finding their assigned spots in the parade. The shift is from 9:30 a.m. until the parade steps off at 11.
- Cleanup – These volunteers will make sure the parade route is left litter-free once the parade is over. This shift generally lasts from noon until no later than 1:30 p.m.
If you are interested, please sign up here. The theme for this year’s parade is “Jubilee” in honor of our country’s 250th birthday. We will honor our local veterans as the Grand Marshals of the parade and will showcase dozens of units including bands, clowns, floats, and beautifully restored circus wagons.

Chamber Golf Classic
“Master the Chamber Classic” is the theme for our June 30 golf outing at Baraboo Country Club and, yes, green jackets are welcome. Baraboo State Bank is the presenting sponsor and Sysco Foods is the buffet sponsor. Gold and Silver Hole sponsorships are still available and we are soliciting donations for the silent auction and raffle drawings.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties beginning at 9 a.m. until the dinner ends about 7 p.m. If you have a couple of hours, we can definitely put you to work.
If you are interested, please sign up here.
If you would like to donate an item for the golf outing or have questions about either event, please contact me at director@baraboochamber.com or 608-356-8333.

Chicago Magazine article puts Baraboo in spotlight
We were pleased to see that Baraboo was featured in a recent Chicago Magazine article about Wisconsin destinations. Working with travel writers to “plant the seed” about all of Baraboo’s wonderful tourism assets is part of our ongoing promotional efforts. Every once in a while, the seed sprouts! The article about Baraboo, which mentions nearly a dozen businesses and attractions, can be found here.
